Moon Milk
Duration : 08 min. 20 sec.
Materials : Single-channel video installation
Year : 2019

The video starts with a dream under anesthesia during neurosurgery and develops into a satirical critique on industrialization and gentrification campaign, which is materialized in a series of sculptural props for the video. The work interlaces the medical documentary of craniotomy and the whimsical narrative in Italo Calvino’s book “Cosmicomics,” drawing analogy between the surgical removal of brain tumor and the imaginary ritual of purifying the contaminated Moon milk. Through Italian and Chinese narrations, this work interweaves dream and reality, opening up new imagination on human agency that transcends the boundary between physical and nonphysical.
