Evian Wenyi Zhang was born in 2000 in Shanghai, China. She then moved to New York City for her BA degree in Art History at New York University. Currently she has her studio in Shanghai and Brooklyn. She creates tabular form paintings and large- format photography to study the alteration of cognitive habits during the era of simulacra. Her practice investigates how a formatted medium invented by human beings can define reality.

Her first solo exhibition Chicas del vuelo, esqueleto e insecto vampiro (Flight Girls, Skeleton and Vampire Bug) happened in Lulu by X Museum, CDMX, Mexico, 2022. Selected group exhibitions include: Beijing Biennial (Beijing, 2022); We Borrow Dreams from Others, like Debt, MadeIn Art Center (Shanghai, 2022); USB Multi-port Linking Exhibition, MadeIn Gallery and In The Park store (Shanghai, 2021). Her works are within the collection of the M Woods, Beijing; the X Museum, Beijing.
