    About:
Xu Dawei, born in 1980 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, graduated from the Mixed Media Department from the China Academy of Art, currently lives and works in Shanghai, China. Xu Dawei’s paintings reveal his own perspectives on mystery and the unknown world. Through the composition of a phantasmagoric physical space he invites the observers to a dialogue system between human and nature. Geometrical forms break the original environment familiarity and the commonness of pictorial narration. These uncertain elements remove from the images researches on explanatory space and individual experience, to find a balance out of multi-layered invasions. Within the juxtaposition between reality and illusion and through the control of his paintings, the artist establishes for the spectators a supernatural peaceful space, in which imagination and reality coexist, while birth and disappearance enter an infinite cycle.
