INDIAN EYE-DOLL PROJECT by Corinne Yvernault

Living between her beloved Paris and Pondicherry, Corinne Yvernault will present her work from last past four years. Dream, imagination, poetry and music are all together an inspiration for our young gallery artist.

AT 1, Labourdonnais Street, Pondicherry - 605 001

« When I imagine emptiness in my mind, it’s like a wild dream » « But sometimes, when emptiness is colorful without music, I blot it out »

An emotion, a brushstroke, a sentence appears and the magic paves way for an exploration of meaning, as in a quiet dream, mingling the fragrance of the flowers with those of the insects from a distant land. A perpetual search for detailed understanding, filled with spirituality, gives birth to an idea in her mind and takes form in her paintings, where this new technique reveals the elegance and the whimsical mind of the artist.
Through her paintings, Corinne Yvernault recites her story. Her Indian Connection which started ten years ago has since become her primary source of inspiration.

The Parisian artist chose Pondicherry, where she spends half the year to present her last four years of work. Indian Eye-Doll Project is her second painting expo, which includes three series of paintings : Sweet India, Bic Travel, and Graphic India, wherein she narrates her recent work nurtured with dialogue between two cultures.

Her paintings are regularly on display in the French capital, where she represents the new generation of emerging artists of these last years. The artist regularly associates with musicians, thus, fusing other art forms to create an interdisciplinary art form which is well known and remains loyal to this spirit of union which makes her paintings so attractive.

And beyond this imaginary world, it’s a genuine new technique which we get to see, painted with the most widely used ball pen around the world. The Bic Travel series is an invitation to a search for understanding. Africa, and its children from the desert asking for these famous ball pens from visitors, gave birth to the idea of using this technique in her paintings. Thus, Travel and Music were ideas which came naturally to the artist for this series mostly compiled in large formats.

Sweet India unveils the discreet sensitivity and the rustic style of the artist which we discover under different facets coming from the other end of the world. This series was born out of a meeting in Pondicherry between two artists, creating an artistic bond between travelers who are inspired of.

From India, she inherits the taste of colors and through her profession as graphist designer, she acquires the touch of make-up, the Graphic India series is a sort of game in which the artist takes pleasure in exposing two major inspirations in colored canvas where a wind of liberty swirls around.

The entire works of Corinne Yvernault encompass a vast heritage. By reinventing the pictural landscape, she poses the question of cultural Identity, where she portrays our daily life confronted and tied to the imaginary.
Between perfection and chaos, creative imagination and coercion, assertion and helplessness, Corinne Yvernault writes a poetry of the Ideal life.
