About the Gallery
Founded by MadeIn Company in 2014, MadeIn Gallery is dedicated to the promotion of talented international artists, holding high quality art events and exhibitions, with an accent on contemporary culture development and communication. Located in Shanghai West Bund contemporary art district, MadeIn Gallery aims to be a leading independent platform for creativity in China, giving access to the latest artworks of established artists but also to younger and lesser-known talents.
In March 2014, MadeIn Gallery was featured in the China Focus Section of the Armory Show in New York. On this occasion, detailed images of the series Under Heaven by Xu Zhen, commissioned artist of the Armory Show, were featured in all the visual promotional material. A first temporary showroom was established within MadeIn Gallery presenting works by the represented artists.
Since its opening, MadeIn Gallery has presented works of cutting-edge artists, among others Miao Ying, Liu Chengrui, Lu Pingyuan, Shen Xin, Wang Sishun, He An, or Xu Zhen (Produced by MadeIn Company) in shows that has attracted a lot of attention from the contemporary local art scene. In order to give to the audience an exhaustive presentation of the artists’ respective universe and language, MadeIn Gallery has initiated a series of solo exhibitions, all settled in very close dialogue with the artists, as well as a series of group shows dedicated to the young Chinese art scene. Through this framework, the gallery space of about 300 m2 has been transformed, giving birth to site-specific exhibitions that emphasize the broad approaches and the variety of conceptual works.
